The South Side Ballroom in Dallas, Tx played host to Manchester Orchestra x Thrice as they celebrated 10 years of COPE and 15 years of Beggars last November 19, 2024. The co-headliners performed each album in their entirety filling a fan-packed venue with nostalgic bliss. The tour also featured Lunar Vacation as the opening act. It was a night of incredible music all around for fans of Alternative and Indie rock.
Lunar Vacation is an indie rock band formed 2016 in Manchester Orchestra’s birthing grounds, Atlanta, GA. The band recently released their second studio album Everything Matters, Everything’s Fire. Gep Repasky (vocals) does a great job of catching the early attendee’s attention with her mesmerizing and soothing vocals. The rhythm and beats of their songs are mellow yet the lyrics and emotions are powerful. They performed favorites from their past albums and EPs like “Swimming” and “The Basement” while sharing songs from their most current including “Just for Today” and “Erase All The B’s”.
I was hooked on Thrice when I first heard “The Artist in The Ambulance” and “Stare at The Sun”. The band was formed 1998 in Irvine, CA and has since created 11 great studio albums with a revisited version of my favorite, The Artist in The Ambulance. They are great live performers that ripple with immense energy playing Beggars in it’s entirety. “Beggars”, “Circles”, and “All The World is Mad” are some of my favorite songs in this album. Thrice is Dustin Kensrue (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Teppei Teranishi (lead guitar, keyboards), Eddie Breckenridge (bass guitar), and Riley Breckenridge (drums).
Manchester Orchestra is an indie/alternative rock band formed 2004. The band has faced many overhauls with Andy Hull (lead vocals, rhythm guitar) being the only original mainstay. The current band members consist of Robert McDowell (lead guitar, keyboards), Tim Very (drums), and Andy Prince (bass guitar). The band has created 6 wonderful studio albums including Cope which they performed in it’s entirety for this tour. They even added favorites from other albums including “The Maze”, “The Gold”, and “Bed Head” that left fans roaring as they ended the night.
It was truly a spectacular show all around. The tour made it’s last appearance in hometown Atlanta, GA November 23, 2024. Continue to follow each of these bands and future tours in the links below:
