Godsmack is a band that needs no introduction. The multi-Grammy award nominee rock band formed 1995 has been racking chart topping hits with their 9 studio albums since inception. Godsmack and front man, Sully Erna, are legends in the genre. On the road currently with The Rise Of Rock World Tour, they stopped by The Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory in Irving, Tx last Wednesday night. The tour has a killer line-up with up with support from Dorothy and fellow legends, Stone Temple Pilots.
Dorothy is a rock band formed in Los Angeles 2014 fronted by Dorothy Martin. They have 4 studio albums and blend musical styles from hard rock and southern rock. They take the stage to open the night and they surely hit the mark. They are electric performers. Dorothy is captivating to watch and to listen to live. They play all their hits including my favorite “Raise Hell”. They had early ongoers and their loyal fanbase dancing till the end of their set.
I remember my uncle playing “Plush” on the radio during a road trip in California back in 2001. I asked him who the artist was and what song was playing. He told me it’s from Stone Temple Pilots and the song is one of the best cult classic alternative songs. I’ve been a fan since that day. STP are rock legends. Formed in San Diego, CA 1998, all their hits are timeless masterpieces. The band played them all one after the other. You could hear the echoes of the fans singing along with them. The amphitheater was filled with nostalgic bliss. It was a very intimate energy. Hearing them live took me back to that day I first listened to them and it felt really good. What an honor to be able to photograph them performing live.
Godsmack is known world-wide and by multiple generations. Few bands achieve what Godsmack has. “I Stand Alone” had a generation on a chokehold yet they have delivered multi-award winning songs and chart-topping hits throughout their entire career. Sully will forever be an icon of rock and roll. They performed every fan favorite song and completely took over the venue. I can’t speak enough of their performance. Their set-list definitely satiates any craving of Godsmack you may have. I highly implore every fan to not miss this tour. Godsmack will deliver. Sully will give you a show to remember.
The tour has just began with many more days and opportunities to catch all these awesome bands live at a venue near you. Click HERE to follow the tour and purchase a ticket to a nearby show.
